How To Keep Bugs Out Of Your Bed

We are not sure if we have a bed bug problem in our house, but we are still taking precautions just in case. My mom a number of times has woken up with red sores on her stomach and we cannot figure out where that is coming from. We took her bed completely apart and did not see any evidence of them anywhere. Even if we do not have this infestation, it is level-headed good to prevent any type of a bug like a spider or centipede from crawling on the bed. Here are a few things that we are still working on.

First of all, we do not acquire the bed apart often enough and vacuum the box spring and mattress like we should. That would definitely get rid of any insect or eggs in the mattress. We recently took the bed skirt off and decided to keep that off the bed permanently so nothing can paddle up it. Bed sheets should be changed on a weekly basis and washed in hot water and put in the dryer. The heat will definitely get rid of anything that is there.

We just purchased a mattress and box spring protector. This is excellent for keeping out dust mites and bed bugs. If there are any eggs or bugs in the bed, they will be suffocated by the protectors. There is a very rare chance that bed bugs will return once you have the protectors since they have something in them specifically to keep these things away. For $88, we got both the queen size mattress and box spring protector on Ebay. You always find favorable deals on Ebay. You really have to shop around because some stores can be very expensive. You do not have to spend a lot of money on these for the problem to be solved.

You can also try a spray called "Kleen Free." It is all natural and it is suitable for roaches, dust mites and bed bugs. Just spray the mattress and box spring with this about once a week.

Since most insects that come into your room do not skim, you need to protect your bed from them crawling up. Retain sheets, comforters and bed spreads off the floor. When the bed is made, be sure that nothing is touching the floor. Another thing that we did was to use double sided tape around all the bed posts or wheels. This should trap any insect trying to crawl up the bed. I also maintain a mouse glue trap near my bed. This is also great for catching insects that may near near your bed.

These suggestions should work pretty well, but if you still have a problem, then you will need to call an exterminator. They may have to near out a few times before the problem is totally solved. This can also be costly though so give these suggestions a try first.
